Here is how to fine out whether the installed OS as well as the CPU are of 64-bit or 32-bit.


[sankar@new-host ~]$ uname -m
i686 (the result for a non-64-bit OS)

[sankar@new-host ~]$uname -m
x86_64(the result for a 64-bit OS)
